Life can be smooth sailing or a bumpy ride. Sometimes even in the same day. When life throws challenges your way, having someone to lean on can make all the difference. Whether it's a comforting hug, an encouraging pep talk, or simply knowing they've got your back, social support will keep going.
2. Your All-Star Team keeps you on track
This is all about those dreams and goals that you're aiming for. Sometimes, it's hard to stay motivated, especially when it's only you doing to motivating... Distractions are on every corner, excuses widely available and hanging in there when you hit a rough patch is not easy on your own. That's where your All-Star Team steps in. They're the ones cheering you on, reminding you why you started in the first place, and gently nudging you back on track when you need it most. All you have to do, is ask.
3. Sharing is caring
Two know more than one. And three know more than two. That's one of the great things about a social support netwerk. Whatever you need, there is always someone with advice, a tip, a contact. All you have to do is ask. Need advice on starting your own business? There's probably someone in your circle who's been there, done that. And where can you help someone in your network? Reciprocity helps to further extend your social netwerk. By sharing what we know, learning from others and helping each other, we all grow.
4. Celebrate good times
Think back to the last time you accomplished something significant, like landing a new job or achieving a fitness goal. Remember how fulfilling that moment was? Now, picture sharing that sense of joy with your closest circle of friends and supporters. Sharing happiness does more than just make us feel good. It supports stronger relationships, builds a sense of belonging, and promotes empathy.
So plenty of reasons to invest more time and effort in this All-Star Team right? This is actually quite easy. Just start by reaching out to the people you connect with—friends, family, colleagues, anyone who makes you laugh, listen, and feel understood. Show up for them, and they'll show up for you. It's all about building those genuine connections and being there when it matters most. Research has shown that we need a group of 15 people to be able to be happy and flourish in life. Investing as much time and attention as you can in these 15 people is an investment in your own well-being as well.
